Question An R/E but have second thoughts...then third thoughts...

I'm currently an R/E but i'm really not using elementalists skills at all when i realized kindle arrows and poison are really good and better than conjure lightning and now i how have no attribute points in elementalists.

So I thought maybe i should change 2nd professions, maybe as a mesmer - i can combine poison + conjure phantasm or fragility + incendiary arrows

Or a a monk with judges insight + favourable winds + barrage + good healing. Like the 20% armour penetrations which is good against high level warrior type monsters for us rangers.

Then... i started to do more research on elementalists and thought instead of spealizing in air..what about fire with glyp of lesser energy + mark of rodgort + conjure flame + prep/natural ritual + penetrating atk or barrage = massive dmg on single target or a group..but heavy on energy.

I'd like to be a good PvE player that could be an effective PvP player at the same time with switching of skills. In that respect maybe R/Me as a trapper and dot dmg? Or maybe a R/Me that could be a good soloer (maybe even a decent farmer?)

So could you guys shed some view and opinions on what you think I should go for? I'd like to be PvE player that can go into a good PvP setup later. If possible could you point out the farming capabilites of each build? (with 1 or 2 henchmans is okay)

Well, Ranger/anything will have a tough time farming (worse than any other except maybe warrior). Ranger/monk would be the easiest way to farm physical enemies though, but you will suffer horribly from lack of energy.

You really have to narrow down what you want in order to make a choice about this? Maximum interrupting capacity? Go with mesmer. Be able to severely handicap enemy fighters? Necro's curses will do the job. Conjure * will beat Judges Insight because you have to spend a lot of energy recasting judges insight, anywhere 3-4x the amount you would for a conjure. But monk is still viable if your team needs another person to use rebirth/res. Another use for ele is a water snare which would allow you to fire off more grouped barrages.

fyi Barrage cancels all preps so kindle/poison arrows will be quite useless if you decide to take barrage along with you.

Yeah I know barrage cancels preps thats why i said natural ritual or a prep depending on if i use penetrating atk or barrage.

The thing is i am really fond of barrage and taking downs lots of monsters quickly and the only way i see good dmg from this is ele.. but if a mesmer can do great dmg with barrage combinations then i'm definetly going for mesmer but i dont see anything great going with barrage, most combinations are single targets. Are there any good barrage combinations?

At the moment I spend most of my time at PvE but i know that this isn't going to last forever and I will be going into PvP later on.. my guild is pressuring me to do so as well.

And necros... i really dont know much about them and how they combine well with Rangers or whether they are good, i have experience with mesmer and ele only. Are necros good?
